Have you ever been laughed at?
It’s horrifying to be that person; the punch line of a joke, the center of attention for all of the wrong reasons. Something like that can really stick with us. We’ll remember it for years to come. Some people never truly get over it.
That’s what embarrassment feels like. It stings.
But, it’s not just the stuff of playgrounds and school plays. Embarrassment knows no boundaries and doesn’t have an age limit. It can creep into our careers and everyday life. Unbeknownst to you, you’ll slowly become the kind of person you would have made fun of, someone you would have laughed at.
After college you found a cushy job, a safe spouse, your comfort zone, and settled down. It’s not the fact that you settled in the physical sense that raises a red flag, you put down roots, good for you. The alarming part is the fact that you settled in terms of your goals and achievements; you gave up on everything you dreamt about.
That’s way more embarrassing than being de-passed in front of your grade school crush.
Fortunately, for you, a lifetime of regret can be avoided. You don’t have to be embarrassed by your actions, or lack thereof.

Sounds easy enough right? Do what you love.
Well it’s not that easy, nothing ever is. But taking a chance is the only way you’re ever going to be able to answer your calling.

Call Your Shots
You could play by the rules, and do exactly what you are supposed to do, what’s required of you. Or, you could make your own way by calling the shots.
Stop doing things because they’re expected of you. Don’t be a yes man. Quit doing busy work to pass the time, and stop doing work you hate just so you can collect a pay check. Listen to Steve Jobs who said, “…making a “living” is not the same thing as making a “life.”
Live Your Life
Sure, people will make fun of you when you make a mistake. And, there’s no denying the fact that failure will be embarrassing. But, I promise you that nothing is more embarrassing than underachieving. Nothing will haunt you like regret. Not the regret that comes with trying and failing, but the kind of regret that comes from never having tried.
