Thousands of businesses are started each and every year across the globe. Many of these startups, as well as long-running established brands, also fail each year.
So, what makes a brand great? What leads a business to success? Well, it all starts out with an idea to bring something to people’s lives that they want or need. A unique selling point usually helps, as there are already so many competitors out there for new ventures to contend with. So, having said that, let’s take a look at some fresh brands that have had an impact on their industry in recent times.

Lingerie Industry: ThirdLove
Only starting up back in 2013, ThirdLove isn’t even ten years old, yet it is one of the most successful lingerie brands in America. The co-founders of the business (Heidi Zak and David Spector) have even won awards for their entrepreneurship. What is it that makes their brand different from all of the other lingerie companies out there? Well, they have over 50 different bra sizes, to begin with, and they’re all about women being able to find their ‘perfect fit’, no matter their body type. ThirdLove puts the comfort of their customers before anything else, which is refreshing, so it’s no surprise they’ve seen the success that they have.
Food Industry: GoPuff
Although takeaway food delivery services have been popular for a while now, independent grocery deliveries aren’t quite as common. However, since 2013, GoPuff has been putting an end to that. Now operating in more than 650 cities in the US and branched out to the UK, GoPuff saw a gap in the market and ran with it. The founders, Yakir Gola and Rafael Ilishayev, even featured on the Forbes 30 under 30 list in 2017, and it’s not difficult to see why. This idea, although similar to other platforms out there, was something that made the lives of their customers easier. GoPuff has made speedy grocery deliveries more accessible than ever.
Social Media Platform: TikTok
Initially launched in 2016, TikTok has certainly flipped the world of social media upside down in the past few years. Seeing a huge leap in users over the pandemic, when there were lockdowns in many countries, the video-sharing app became hugely popular. With its smart algorithm, it learns what each user likes to watch and then caters to their ‘For You Page’ (homepage) accordingly. It was developed in China by IT company ByteDance, which has launched a number of different products over the years.
Motor Industry: Tesla
Although it’s been running longer than any of the other brands on this list, Tesla has caused a sensation more now than it ever did. The EV company is very on-trend at the moment, with all of the talks of climate change being so prominent in the media. The business started out in 2003, founded by Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning. The current owner, Elon Musk, contributed millions of dollars to the company as funding in 2004 and became owner in 2008. The brand has since become a household name, and its electric cars are paving the way for sustainable vehicles, at exactly the right time.
Every business has to start somewhere, it just takes time, persistence, belief, and smart decision-making for it to flourish. Have you got what it takes?
