Step 1: Choose your product or service.
So lets say you love art. Why not start an online business selling t-shirts with your own art designs?
Shopify is one option for that. This website allows you create and sell your own clothing designs online. You can start off with a free trail as well!
So maybe art isn’t your thing. Let’s say you are really great with IT work but you’re not currently working for a company. No problem! Two solutions to this can be Elance.com and oDesk.com, which are sites that allow you to create your own pay rate and promote your services. IT isn’t the only service available on the sites. You can also work on assignments that require experience in sales and marketing, writing and translation, administrative support and multimedia design.
These are just a couple examples. There are plenty of ideas just waiting to be thought up. It’s important to remember not to rush yourself in the process and carefully select what it is that you would like to sell online. It may take some time. I would suggest taking a notepad and jotting down ideas that just shoot out your mind when you thinking of things that you enjoy. It may not make sense at first but once you start writing it will slowing come to you. Don’t get frustrated and don’t give up!
Step 2: How much are you going to charge?
Figure out a pay rate you feel comfortable with. Also think about your experience and the value of your product and service in order to determine the appropriate pricing.
Step 3: Make a website promoting your product or service.
You can use sites like Weebly.com, WIX.com and GoDaddy.com
It’s pretty simple once you get the hang of it. All you have to do is follow the simple instructions on the sites and you’re just 3 more steps away from starting your own online business.

Step 4: Network. Network. Network.
…Did I mention NETWORK?
Meet new people who have the same interests in the thing you are trying to sell. That means promote yourself any chance you can to determine who those people are. You can also use sites like LinkedIn.com to network with fellow colleagues and past classmates. It’s a great way to build connections.
Step 5: Make sure that your customers/clients are completely satisfied with their service. If not, find out why and change it.
It’s that simple.
Step 6: Always be on your toes and keep learning what makes your customers/clients happy. Follow through with changes and additions that will benefit your target market.
Good luck entrepreneurs!
Almost forgot…ALWAYS believe in yourself. You are worth the effort it takes to work towards your goals.
